emble is a new social event planning platform that we built from scratch.
The Smoof team worked together to conceptualise, design and develop emble, a web application aiming to take the hassle out of organising events like birthday parties and holidays by allowing people to collaboratively vote on dates and ideas, invite guests, and collect money.
We spent several months developing the beta version of the app, and allowed the first users access during November 2014. We then launched the ‘open’ beta the following month, and have improved our server architecture to allow for increased usage and have taken measures to protect the app against high traffic. In launching the beta, we introduced a product to the market that hadn’t previously been in existence – it’s a completely unique service because it puts a unique combination of features together on one platform. We were invited to join the Entrepreneurs for the Future program at Innovation Birmingham in September 2014, and have really benefitted from the mentorship and community provided by the program, as well as the opportunities to learn.
We’re currently working on a new version of emble based on the feedback we’ve received from early adopters - watch this space!
