The TKStarley Team Visit the Google Digital Garage

The beautiful Library of Birmingham has recently opened its doors to the Google Digital Garage. The Google Digital Garage located on the first floor of the library is all about helping small businesses in Birmingham and the West Midlands area. Individuals or businesses can develop and grow their digital skills to help their organisation develop and gain more customers. Here at TKStarley, we thought it was a great idea to take advantage of the free seminars to identify what else we could do for our own clients.

The first seminar led by a Google expert trainer was ‘Tell Your Story Online’. The seminar was all about making the most of the internet to show off your business online and improving your online presence. It started by highlighting some interesting digital facts such as UK customers being the most digitally active individuals in the world, and emphasising the importance of telling your story online through your website. The seminar was very informative and including tips for building a successful website, an explanation of why your website design needs to be mobile responsive and the principles of such design, an introduction to Google Analytics and other ways to build your online presence. Tell Your Story Online is beneficial to anyone starting a business or a new website, or not currently getting the most out of your site. The seminar is free to sign up for and a few sessions run every week.

The second seminar is scheduled right after the first for your convenience. ‘Get New Customers Online’ is all about digital marketing. The seminar is very much like the first in terms of the Google trained expert talking through a number of things that should be done to improve your business online. The expert started off by emphasising the importance of search for your business and the new customer journey which now includes potential customers reading about your services online, through your website, blog or social media. The seminar simply explained how search works with a Google video and the use of examples. The last half of the seminar focused on improving your visibility and your Google ranking by having a fully optimised website, and signing up to Google AdWords even if it’s just for using it in a free capacity with the help of keyword planner, which is a great tool to help identify how to market your brand and services you offer.

The Google Digital Garage is at the Library of Birmingham until December 2015 so there is plenty of time to take advantage of the service. If you would like to learn the digital know-how to make the most of the web, reach new customers and grow your business visit The Digital Garage website, where you can learn more and register for the seminars. If you are need of our expertise please get in touch, we are more than happy to talk through your issues and the possible solutions TKStarley can do for you.
